Due of centuries of violence, colonialism, migration, and assimilation, for many people, cultural practices such as ancestral reverence ritual have been lost. Thankfully, each of us has loving, wise, earth-honoring ancestors. Ancestral healing work helps us reconnect directly with the wisdom of our lineages, without appropriating the practices and traditions of other cultures. This journey facilitates transformative personal and familial healing, as well as radical change in our efforts towards collective healing and liberation. Many of the ills of today’s world are rooted in the unmetabolized ancestral pain and trauma of our lineages, which influences living humans by way of the troubled dead. As we learn to create and maintain boundaries with our troubled ancestors, and reconnect and collaborate with our well an loving ancestors to heal and transform the wounds or burdens in our lines, we can not only experience healing in our own lives, but also help shift local, national, and global consciousness here on Earth.
I came to this powerful work by way of my mentor, Taya Shere, co founder of the Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Institute. I have been learning from/with Taya since I took her Jewish Ancestral Healing course in the winter of 2017/18. After working with Taya 1:1 for two years I completed my Ancestral Medicine Practitioner training in 2020/21. As an earth honoring Jewish ritualist, I support Jews and non-Jews on this transformative path of ancestral healing.
The benefits of Ancestral Healing work include:
Healing intergenerational patterns of familial and cultural attachment wounding;
Receiving blessings from healed lineages that can lead to greater health, abundance, and improved family relationships;
Experiencing an embodied sense of deep and unconditional belonging, support, and love from your bright and benevolent ancestors;
Gaining greater clarity and confidence around your life purpose;
Experiencing increased self-confidence, self-love, and connection to your identities and cultural heritage;
Sharpening of intuition and discernment;
Reconnecting with authentic practices for ancestral reverence and other forms of animist ritual; and
Cultivating embodied resilience in working to dismantle and heal cultural wounds such as Earth disconnection, patriarchy, racism, sexism, and colonialism.
Note: It is important to have a solid foundation of embodied presence and somatic resource for this work.
If you feel you need support establishing that, please consider starting with some Somatic work before moving into this work.
As with all holistic health modalities, this work is not meant to replace professional psychological and medical care.
